Women on the Move , Hanoi's Migrant Roving Street Vendors.

Extraordinary book by Jensen, Peppard and Tháng, based on years of study and research of this modern Vietnamese phenomenon.

This is my sketch and book summary in my notebook. After the farmer and land reform in Vietnam in the 1990s, called DOI MOI, more responsibility was added on the shoulders of women. They started going to the city to sell their products, in order to bring more money home. Family culture remains strongly influenced by Confucian traditions, the man is the head of the family, the woman obeys and works harder than everybody else! Women obey three men in their lives: father, husband, and son.
